These last couple days we’ve experienced an unprecedented HEAT WAVE here in the PNW 🥵 we’re talking Arizona temperatures of 113* to 117* 😳 The last thing we wanted to do was cook anything, well, ok we did try to fry an egg on the asphalt but that didn’t work 🤣 so we made Homemade Peach Ice-Cream instead 🍨
We had some @costco peaches that weren’t super juicy so we soaked them in lemon juice and sugar overnight 💥 Awww yeah!! Our Cuisinart ice cream maker came with a simple little recipe book. We used the fresh strawberry ice cream recipe & substituted peaches 🍑 Delish!
Homemade Peach Ice-Cream
For the Peach Puree:
- 3 cups fresh peaches, sliced into bite sized pieces.
- 4 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1/2 cup sugar
- In a small bowl, combine the peaches, lemon juice and sugar. Stir gently and allow the peaches to macerate in the juices for 2 hours (or overnight if you have time).
- Puree the peaches along with the juices in a blender. We don’t like chunky ice cream so we pureed all the peaches and juices in our @vitamix then returned the puree back to the bowl. If you like chunks in your ice-cream, reserve half of the peaches before pureeing and set aside.
For the Ice-Cream:
- 1 1/2 cups whole milk
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 3/4 cups heavy cream
- 3 cups of the peach puree
- 1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- Without rinsing the Vitamix (less dishes the better right?!) combine the whole milk and sugar. Blend on low until the sugar dissolves, about 2 minutes. Add in the heavy cream, 3 cups of the peach puree, and the vanilla. Blend on medium for a couple minutes.
- Pour the mixture into the ice cream maker and let it mix until thickened, about 25 minutes. Just before it’s done add in any remaining puree or reserved peach chunks until barely mixed in. Enjoy 🍑
Tip: For a firmer texture you may want to transfer the ice-cream to an air tight container and freeze for several hours or overnight.

Sounds like a good way to beat the heat. Or just a good excuse to eat ice cream. I know the kids don’t need any excuses – it’s always ice cream time. Still now sure about eating ice cream with a fork, Evie. Looks good with the chunks of peaches on the side. I know my mom would have loved this one as peaches were one of her favorites.
