Gluten-Free 101
New to the gluten-free world? Welcome to Gluten-Free 101! I didn’t know where to start when I was first diagnosed with Celiac disease back in 2011 but I knew there was a lot to learn and there is a lot of content out there which can definitely be overwhelming! Therefore, I’ve put together a collection of some important things I learned early on in my diagnosis.
Favorite Recipes
First, and most important to our mental health, we need to know that switching to a gluten-free life doesn’t mean we give up our favorite recipes! We also don’t have to go out and buy special gluten-free cookbooks. Any recipe can be made gluten-free with the right ingredients. That is why I want you to send me your favorite recipes and I will transform them to gluten-free without tasting gluten-free… you know ~ dry and crumbly, tastes kinda like garbanzo beans… that sort of thing.
Visit my collection of my favorite recipes, all were regular recipes which I have transformed to gluten-free. I’ve tried to be specific with the ingredients, these are what make the recipe NOT taste gluten-free. If ingredients are substituted you likely won’t be happy with the results.
Grocery Shopping Guide
Which leads me to the grocery shopping guide. Here you will find reviews on the best products, brands & ingredients. In other words, ingredients with the best taste & texture as well as the best place to find them.
If you’re visiting Gluten-Free 101 you know you need to watch out for gluten hiding in your food but did you know it’s also in your shampoo, lotions, makeup, vitamins and so much more? There are lots of gluten-free products available, visit my Skin Care drop down for a few of my favorites to get you started.
Restaurants
Similarly, finding restaurants that offer safe gluten-free food can be tricky. There are multiple factors to take into consideration when choosing a restaurant so I’ve highlighted a few of our favorites on the Restaurant page.
Symptoms
Lastly, check out the symptoms page for additional information. There are so many symptoms and conditions associated with gluten intolerance, you may be surprised how many of these symptoms you have and glad to know they may clear up with a strict gluten-free diet!
Hang in there!
I hope this site is helpful on your new journey into the gluten-free realm. Remember, it’s not the end of the world! You need to give your body time to heal…months not just weeks! I promise you, someday you will barely notice your limitations!
